Maybe you have heard the expression “it’s what it’s”? What does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper meaning of the expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru in the lotus position floating above the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that would take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Seeing as how this really is my last life on the planet and the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the Course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
What is the IT that individuals are authoring here? Based on the Course in Miracles, IT is truth, specifically God’s truth. How come it crucial that you emphasize that it’s God’s truth? Because God’s truth is not available to interpretations whereas a human’s truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have result in a myriad of religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion as a “system of thought, feeling, and action that’s shared by way of a group and that offers the members a thing of devotion.”
Who devised the device of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? Based on the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal is to go back to a perfect state to be acim lesson 1.There’s no thought or action in their state to be, you merely are. What must not be forgotten could be the underlying thread of all religions: God is creator, God is love and we’re all perfect and infinite children of God.
Put another way, “it’s what it’s” may be rewritten to “God’s love is the only real truth and it’s absolute” and this truth knows no bounds and is timeless.
